Born in Detroit to Italian immigrant parents, Sonny Bono was the youngest of three children.

He attended school in Inglewood, California, but never graduated. Bono's music career began at Specialty Records, where he recorded his first song, "Things You Do to Me." Later, he met legendary producer Phil Spector and achieved success as half of the singing duo with his wife, Cher.

Cher and Musical Collaborations

As a duo, Sonny and Cher penned and arranged hit songs such as "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On." Sonny also recorded solo under the pseudonym "Sonny." While less successful, he managed to release one hit single, "Laugh at Me."
