    Harris Glenn Milstead, also known as Divine, was born in Towson, Maryland.

    As the only child of Diana Francis Milstead, Divine's early life was marked by his mother's frequent miscarriages. At the age of 12, his family moved to Lutherville, a Baltimore suburb. Here, he attended high school and met John Waters, his future collaborator and filmmaker.
