James Ujaama, a Seattle man who pleaded guilty in 2003 to aiding the Taliban, helped British law-enforcement authorities track down a man involved in London terrorism plots, according to a U.S.

Senate report that discloses new details about Ujaama’s contributions to post 9/11 investigations.

The Senate report indicates that Ujaama — not al-Qaida detainees subject to harsh interrogation tactics by the CIA — provided detailed information that helped British authorities track down Dhiren Barot, who was believed to be planning attacks in the United Kingdom.

Ujaama traveled to Afghanistan before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to deliver money and computers to the Taliban government. He also assisted London-based Islamic militants in a failed effort to set up a jihad training camp in Bly, Ore.
