Brian Greenhoff (28 April 1953 – 22 May 2013) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Manchester United, Leeds United and Rochdale.[3] He was capped 18 times for England.

He joined Manchester United as a youth player in August 1968, and made his first-team debut against Ipswich Town on 8 September 1973.[4] He helped Manchester United win the 1977 FA Cup, by which time he had developed a partnership with Martin Buchan in central defence.
He was very versatile, starting his career as a midfielder and finishing it as a centre back of international class. Greenhoff scored 17 goals in his Manchester United career and played 271 games between 1973 and 1979.[5] His brother, Jimmy, also played for Manchester United.[6]
